I need a holiday-ay

Well, I'm back in Blogville after two eventful weeks in Scotland. It went off to a stressful start at the airport when Mr Clerk discovered his passport had expired for three months and we were kept waiting for long minutes before given our boarding cards (Mr Clerk had to renew his passport in a rush once in Glasgow). Then our plane taxied for an hour on the tarmac because of traffic regulation. When we finally took off, Little Clerk Number 2 decided to scream his head off because he didn't want to be strapped on his seat. That's the "terrible twos" for you. On touch down, I was hit by a severe back pain and a longing to go back home on the spot.

The last few days were not bad either. The rural area in Renfrewshire where we stayed was affected by heavy rains to the point where a fishery reservoir threatened to collapse and pour tons of water on the local farms. The fire brigade pumped the water day in day out, the roads were closed and the police actually advised the residents (including us !) to evacuate. As it turned out, our cottage was not directly in the front line of the potential disaster and the dam was eventually repaired but our main worry was to pass the road blockades.
Anyway, all is well that ends well and the days in between were fabulous. We saw mind-boggling landscapes, visited castles (haunted, of course), ate fish and chips under a clear blue sky... And I even managed to squeeze in drinks with fellow bloggers Perrine, Mathilde and Mo. Now that's what I call a successful holiday. More pictures follow...
