So, have you all survived the Christmas celebrations ? Despite the r word (recession) looming large in everybody's mind because of the financial crisis (think Northern Rock and the fall in property prices), the festive season was still going full swing in Scotland. Every house displayed an illuminated tree by the bay window.
Call me killjoy, but all these flickering lights got me thinking of global warming. I think it should be time to downsize Christmas a bit. Mind you, my flight to Glasgow was probably as harmful to the environment as the electricity bill of a whole town for a year so I'd better not be too judgemental.
Pictured above is our very own Christmas tree in our cosy cottage in Lochwinnoch. It made it really feel like home. The fourth one is standing in Waverley Station in Edinburgh. The other two are my in-laws'.
En Ecosse, toutes les maisons arborent de superbes sapins de Noël illuminés à leurs fenêtres. J'ai eu un petit pincement au coeur en pensant au réchauffement climatique généré par toutes ces guirlandes électriques. En même temps, j'ai voyagé en avion, donc je suis mal placée pour juger.
My sister-in-law innovated this year with salmon stuffed with lemon couscous instead of the traditional turkey. It was yummy ! What did you have for your Christmas lunch ?Pas de dinde aux choux de Bruxelles cette année. Ma belle-soeur a innové avec un délicieux saumon farci à la semoule citronnée (ça sonne mieux en anglais). Délicieux ! Et vous, qu'est-ce qu'on mange à Noël dans vos contrées ?
